Moxie is riding the medspa trend, offering a "business-in-a-box" model for opening medspas. The business raised $15.7 million to fuel expansion.
Treatments like botox are becoming more ubiquitous, spurring growth in the number of medspas, or centers that offer botox, IV hydration, and laser treatments from certified providers like registered nurses. Opening a medspa, however, can be a lengthy and expensive process. Moxie wants to make it easier with its “business-in-a-box” model, offering providers coaching, access to discounted supplies, and an EHR/POS software suite.
WHO: Founded in 2022, Moxie is a provider of management solutions to empower independent medical professionals to start their own medical spas. Moxie is an end-to-end software and services suite that helps nurse practitioners and physician assistants launch, grow, and maintain their practices. According to trade association AmSpa, medspas costs an average of $163,000 to open, but locations that open with Moxie spend less than $30,000 in start-up costs.
WHY: Moxie currently operates in seven states and will use the funding for expansion into other US markets.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS: SignalFire partner and new Moxie board member Chris Scoggins said, “We invested because of the size of the opportunity, the quality of the team and its execution, and the comprehensiveness of the solution. In just one year, Moxie became the leader in its category.”
“We chose to work with SignalFire because of their experience as operators and their deep network of advisors across recruiting, marketing, and more. Since we’ve begun working with them, their responsiveness and followthrough has been second to none—allowing us to build Moxie faster with a trusted partner,” said Dan Friedman and Sam Gerstenzang, co-founders of Moxie.
